Dave Lumsden is originally from Skerries, known as "The Hammer", he is our man in Ireland, running the Full Factory Winnerswear Supertwin at all Irish Championship Road Race Meetings. Catch him at any paddock in Ireland this year. Just head for the Full Factory Winnerswear awning.
He was brought up close to the racing at Skerries and Killalane, and his Dad took him to the Manx Grand Prix at the age of 11. Hammer laughed at a bloke who finished last and then started punching his petrol tank because he was so happy just to finish. His Dad clipped the young Hammer round the ear and then told him "You have no idea how difficult it is to even finish a race round here so don't laugh at him!"
Hammer got his first bike at 20 (a ZXR400), and then upgraded to an R6 and received his road racing licence. He has progressed through six Manx Grands Prix, finishing third in the '09 Junior. After a break of four years, he returned in 2015, taking 6th in the Supertwins. His best lap is almost 119mph.
Aslan, Kings of Leon, Metallica, Bob Marley, UB40, Bad Manners, and Specials. That's a very mixed bag, with a bit of a Ska vibe going on. He also lists Justin Bieber!!
Backdraft, Cheech & Chong Up In Smoke, Shawshank Redemption, Forest Gump, Sons of Anarchy, Narcos, and his particular favourite, Debbie Does Dallas, but only for the storyline.
Steak and chips.
Racing, going to the gym, running, playing football, playing darts, singing in the shower, dancing (not in the shower), laughing with friends and family, and...er...sandwiches.
Turnips, Fair City, Unhappy people (Fair City), ignorance, dishonesty, being told "it can't be done", and...er...soggy sandwiches.
His Dad, who has had two major strokes and come back fighting.
Hammer trained very hard over the winter, and is looking forward to the 2016 season. His main aim is the top step of the Manx Grand Prix podium.
